Issues with selling a 003 factory

I just sold my 003 factory interface on ebay.I used the serial # to get the pt 9 upgrade discount.What does the new owner have to do to get this 003 to work for them? Do I need to include the transfer of ownership form in the box with the 003 for him.Will I lose my pt 9 when he registers my old 003? I just need some clear answers on this. Thanks, Hugh

If you sold him the interface and no software, then he just needs to plug it in and go. You will not lose your Protools 9 software and license. They belong to you. Hopefully you let him know that you already used the serial number to upgrade, which means he can't use it for the crossgrade price. However, he can still buy the full version of PT9 and use it. If you sold him the old software with it (PT 7 or 8), and he wants to use it, the transfer of ownership form will help make that smoother. You should still do a transfer of ownership form either way. It will be needed if later on the new buyer wants to take advantage of any hardware trade up programs, like to HD, or if they come out with a 004, etc.

I'm assuming it's different because the software is Ilok based. And there's been a zillion people selling their hardware after upgrading to PT9. However, in most cases they're still including PT8 or 7 or whatever they had to the new buyer. It's kind of a weird transition time, and I hope Avid updates their Tranfer of Ownership info to reflect the new changes.

I sold my MBox2 Pro with PTLE 8 AFTER I upgraded to PT9. I included the Transfer of Ownership form and I'm enjoying PT9 while the new owner of my old gear is enjoying his as well.
