Clicks on rendered loops when ReaEQ is involved (NO BUG)

MessageAuthor

Hi, I'm rendering out portions of music as seamless loops, on the track I have an instance of ReaEQ which is just rolling off some of the low end with a high pass. The loop, in Reaper, is seamless on playback but when I render it out and re-import the file to a new track, there is an audible click at the loop point. If I get rid of the ReaEQ before the render, the click is not present. Any ideas about settings that could avoid this issue would be very helpful. Cheers Thal

Just to check my understanding: -- the played-back / EQed clip is fine, -- the EQed / rendered / reloaded clip is not? Can you post a short (few seconds) problem project (pre- and post-render) so that we can see / hears what's happening?

Here is the project which shows the problem On track 1 we have the source material, looped. Track 2 is an imported file of the render with EQ engaged. Track 3 is an imported file of the render without EQ. Many thanks for looking. Thal

?? I hear a click at the end of the audio on each track On inspection in Wavosaur, the end of the larger (only) clip on each track is not a zero-crossing. Trim it or add a fade-out?

Ah ha - I did not loop them. Now I have duplicated each clip and lined them up to follow the originals. I can now hear the click at the junction. On zooming right in, I can see it too. It looks like the EQ /render seems to set the end of the rendered clip to a zero-crossing. Or it could be that the render is not dealing with the clip correctly, as the source extends beyond the clip edge.

Rendering seamless loops with ReaEQ causes clicks

Hi folks, Theres a thread about this here: Basically, when a seamless loop is created in Reaper and has ReaEQ on the track, the rendered files have a click at the loop point. Heres an example project to show the problem:

I can't seem to get your uploaded file to work so answering blind. I have always found that putting a very small, unoticeable, fade in and fade out on any clip I want to render as a loop takes care of any issues I might have with clicks at the loop point.

Yeah, ReaEQ (or any other plug-in for that matter!) when processing the area has no way to know that you're going to loop it. You should render then add a tiny fade at the end, or add a crossfade.
