Projectors you like...

Hello all So I just had my NEC projector go down in one of my rooms, they say that the lens became polarized. They say it happens from over use... only had the thing for 2 years. Go figure. I just wanted to see what the rest of you all are using in the projector world. I'm looking for a quiet DLP projector with a high contrast ratio and a good lumen count. Composite is a must (thanks Canopus!), SDI or DVI is a must, and component is nice but not necessary. I really liked my NEC but was very disappointed that the lens died on me. I have an Optoma that I love, but the fan is a bit noisy (even in a projector box) and the zoom/focus is manual rather than remote. Anyway, looking forward to hearing your thoughts! mark

What does it mean to have a lens polarized? I have had projectors for years with thousands of hours of use and never had a lens problem. I think you should ask for more details about what is wrong with your projector. It has been my experience that the lens is usually not the problem. There are plenty of other issues that can happen well before a lens goes bad. And what does it mean for a lens to go bad? I assume you aren't constantly zooming and focusing so you probably aren't putting stress on the motors.

Sorry to be misleading. The lens is supposedly fine, they are telling me that it is the blue in the color wheel that has gotten polorized and this changed the color temp in the middle of the screen. mark
